Dear Mother

We arrived here on the 3rd in good health thank God.

I hope you & Father, G. Mother and Aunt and all brothers sisters are in the best of health.

Tell G. Mother not to forget to send me her likeness as promised. I hope John and Mary Sweeney, Mr Morrison, and all the team are well. I suppose ye are very busy now and plenty to do. You would want a servant badly.

I trust G. Mother has all her lodging well let, tell her Uncle Michael will be going home after the next letter. He could get no further here. Mr Downs was here and left a day before We arrived.

We will write when we get to Georgetown. Things will be far better than hereafter.

We hope all the neighbours are well. I like the country very well.

I suppose Aunt Ellen is done settling her garden now. I hope ye will have a fine summer. Uncle Mick will go back early for the winter, so G. Mother, Aunt Ellen won't be lonesome. He gives in kind love to you Father, G. Mother and Aunt Ellen, & all the children.

Your affectionate son

E Burgess

John Joe would like this country.
